Gas prices are going up and so are heating costs. We are almost done with winter but trust me, it will be back sooner than you think.

If you have been a longtime reader of my site than you know that there are few items I endorse more than waste oil burners.  I have not seen very many investments that give the type of rate of return that these do.

Quite frankly, a heating system outfitted with this type of oil burner will eliminate your heating costs.  Not reduce them.  Not just make your monthly heating costs a little bit lighter on your pockets.

I really do mean that changing over your heating set-up from a conventional boiler or furnace into a waste oil boiler or waste oil furnace will save you TONS of money in the long run.

As many of you know I have seen first hand what these alternative energy heating systems can do.  My January heating bill was $10.00 and I live in one of the coldest states in the union.

It was not by accident or chance that my bill was that price.  It was because I generate heat for my home and business from used motor oil.

My supply is not natural gas, electricity, or more commonly heating oil.  All those items seem to be going up daily.  Instead, I generate all my heat from a constant source that is free and environmentally friendly.

Boy, do I feel sorry for residents in Fairbanks.  Most of the residents up there are paying $500-$600 a month for heating oil to heat their homes.

For all the owners of conventional oil burners, fear not.  I have have written several articles for you including how to troubleshoot everything known to man.  I even made a post about how these burners work to heat your homes.

But for residential owners who have extra cash and want to save a little bit of money in the future please read this.

Like I have said before it was the best item I ever spent my money on.

Best Oil Burner Money Can Buy

Its in the middle of the winter when I really love the type of oil burner I have.  Its 31 degrees outside, we still have more months of winter on the horizon, and I am close to note paying a dime to heat my home and business (shop).  I am convinced that I invested in the best heating system money can buy.

Here is one of my most recent heating bills.  Its for the month of January.  As you can see with the use of my waste boiler my total heating hill for the month was $10.66.  The last month was cold (not as cold as it was last year) and my total energy bill was a little more than ten bucks.

December was high (see the chart of usage on the picture) because on of my handymen Josh was using the gas space heater to heat an uninsulated shed he was building outside.

It was bone chilling cold that month and because of the holidays he was going abnormally slow.  Even with that the bill last month was $40 and the space heater was going all day long.

But by January my heating bill was back to normal as you can see.  Again, the average temperature where I live is 14.9 degrees for January and this month was about that.  That being said while everyone else was experiencing $350-$450 natural gas bills my total bill was next to nothing.

I am not using that much oil.  On really cold days I may used close to 20 gallons.  I have enough of a supply to last me for months should it ever run out (that is far from happening though).

I had Steve from Nuera Heating come and do a thorough cleaning on my boiler like I did on a used one three months ago and with my Beckett fuel economizer my oil burner has maximum energy efficiency (you can use that tool on regular oil burners too).

If it sounds like I am bragging about my current set-up I do apologize.  I get so excited talking and writing about it.  For years I had wanted to find some way to “get off the grid” as best as I could and now its like I have accomplished that to some degree.

It gives me a lot of satisfaction to turn my heater in my home or shop to eighty degrees if I please and pay $10 at the end out the month.  With the square feet I would have been paying close to $450-$500 bucks if I had my just a regular oil boiler set up like I did before.

My sister, her husband, and their six kids came to live with me from Idaho as well.  It has gotten so bad down there my brother-in-law could not make a living.  So with me there are twelve people living in my house.  That’s a lot of hot showers!  So I would venture to say that if I had not invested in this unique oil burner back in 2007 my heating bill would be close to $500.

Do I recommend getting a waste oil boiler (or furnace)?  You betcha!

This is not your ordinary oil burner that I am going to be talking about.  What I am about to mention is completely foreign for most people.

I have said this in previous posts but I think it is worth repeating. I love my waste oil boiler system.  It is one of the best things that I have put money into.

Why do I make a statement like that?

Quite simply, since my business partner and I purchased a waste oil burner heating system back in 2007 we have been able to save approximately $400 on a monthly basis.

To me having this machine is the equivalent to having a rental property that is making its owner passive income.  Its the exact same concept.  Its additional money being put into your pocket that you did not have to work for.

If we did not have an Energy Logic waste oil heating system than we would be spending an extra $400+ to heat his home and our shop (the shop where we run three businesses is next door) every single month.

I had known many people with the exact same systems as ours but they failed to maintain and take care of their machines.  They failed to filter the oil going into their burner and they never got annual tune-ups.  You can imagine what happened…

It did not take long for their boiler or furnace to start breaking down and then started the complaints that this technology was worthless.  Those myths abound everywhere.

I heard from many guys who worked for companies who had purchased waste oil boilers who said their boss uninstalled these machines after buying them because they were giving them way too much trouble.

They ragged on them and said they did not work and blah blah this and blah blah that.

You can go on these forums and you will hear people saying the exact same thing.  I got into an argument with this guy because he said that “Omni and Energy logic boilers sucked.” There were nothing good about these two brands.

He claimed that he was a boiler technician who had to fixed tons of the very same ones that I have.

Well, my waste oil boiler has never broken down.  It has never given me any problems.  I still pay $10 a month for the hook up fee to natural gas just in case my waste oil boiler breaks down and I have never had to use it whatsoever.

Its my firm conviction that pretty much any brand will last if you take care of it.  This device is not hands off and if you purchase one you have to be willing to invest the time to properly maintain it.

Since day one we have filtered all the oil going into my system.  The system that we have set up goes beyond the call of duty in doing this.  Many things we do are probably unnecessary but I want to make absolutely sure this expensive $11,000 investment lasts.

These oil burners are very delicate and can clog up easily if you do not take the utmost care of them.  You need to make certain that you get as much of the contaminants out as possible, including water, and make certain that no chlorine gets in there.  In addition you need yearly tune-ups on them.

If you do the same you will have a waste oil burner system that will last a long time without any problems.

I have said it many times and I will keep saying it.

I think this technology is wonderful and I want everyone to know about it but if you would like to take advantage of it you need to know how to protect your $8000+ investment ( more than that with shipping and installation).

If you do not than you will waste your money and then prevent others from wanting to get one.

I am glad to see  that small towns are investing in these things now.  These small villages or towns do not have huge budgets so I know it takes a lot of convince them.  They will not be sorry for their investment into waste oil technology.

Here is the latest example that I have found:

The town of Cambellsport, Wisconsin built a new Department of Public works buildings and installed a waste oil boiler to heat it.

Marvelous!  More places like this should jump on board. They would save a bundle and could finally stop raising our property taxes.
