A main key to my waste oil boiler staying in excellent shape has been my meticulous process in which I filter the oil going into it.  I firmly believe that doing this this is the best way to ensure that your boiler, which runs on an extremely dirty substance (in case you didn’t realize), lasts a long time.

Your boiler or oil furnace can burn a lot of things.  This includes vegetable oil, cooking oil, hydraulic fluid, transmission fluid, and of course diesel.  But most likely if you get a machine like this your most readily available and cheapest source of fuel is going to be waste oil.  And this is some dirty stuff! The same chemicals that give motor oil its ability to lubricate your engine are the same chemicals that eventually turn it very acidic (from the blow by) and pack it full of soot (its made to hold and suspend particles harmful to your vehicle).

Your goal is to get as much of the filthy stuff out of your oil burner’s fuel source as you possibly can.  This is no easy task.  I have stated how I protect my great investment by filtering all the used waste oil I get from my mobile oil change business and several tire and aviation shops.  Its a full process that I have improved upon a lot since 2007.  I am in the midst of changing it to make my system even better for getting the cleanest, purest, dirt free possible oil to my machine.

This is where centrifuges come into play.  I have known about them for a while but I am finally convinced that this machine is the best way to accomplish what I want.  Having one  of them will will create the best system for maintaining your waste oil burner and cutting your ash level to by more than half when you have to do semi monthly and annual cleanings on them. WVOdesigns has some of the best setups for this type of thing that I have seen on the web.  I am going to switch from letting the totes sit for several days and then filtering the oil through 2-3 30 micron filters to utilizing a centrifuge which thoroughly gets out everything including all the water (big plus!!!).

Keep in mind that this is above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to filtering your waste oil.  Many operators do not even come close to going as far as I go.  But I have seen the benefits to being as “hands on” as I am with my device.  It has never given me any problems since I have owned it.  I do not plan to spend another $11,000+ buying a new one so I want to make sure that the one I have stays like new.  Putting your oil through a  centrifuges is better than putting it through 50 of the best filters.  This machine actually spins out, at hundreds of rates per minute, all the garbage  and condensation out of what you want to keep.  A must have for anyone serious about having a working set up long term.
